Eligibility requirements to vote in the General Election include:

- U.S. citizenship at the time of registration.
- County and City residence of at least 30 days before the General Election.
- Must be at least 18-years-old by the General Election.
- Voters must be registered by Tuesday, October 16 in order to vote.

Residents can check their registration status by visiting unioncountyvotes.com.

Registered voters who are unable to vote at their designated polling site on General Election Day may vote by mail. Applications for voting by mail are available at the City of Summit Clerk’s office or for download HERE.

The deadline to apply by mail for a mail-in ballot is Tuesday, October 30. The last day to apply in person for a mail-in ballot is Monday, November 5, at the County Clerk Offices in Elizabeth and Westfield.

In-person early voting is open currently at the following locations:

Union County Clerks Office, 2 South Broad Street - Elizabeth

- Monday through Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m

Union County Clerks Office, 300 North Avenue East - Westfield

- Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 8 a.m. - 4PM
- Tuesday, Thursday: 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

The polls will be open from 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. on November 6.

NOTE: You may vote using a provisional ballot for reasons including but not limited to:
- You are a registered voter in Union County who moved to Summit and did not change your address with the Board of Elections.

- Your registration information is not complete in the poll book, for example your signature or address is missing; or
- There is a marking in the poll book that you applied for a mail-in ballot, but:
             - you did not apply for one; or
             - you applied for a mail in ballot, but did not receive it; or
             - you received it, but did not return it.
